Cuttings An Exhibition of Textile Art

'Cut the Apron Strings - Tie the Knot'
by Lesley Stothers

We are delighted to report the Cork Textiles Network 'Cuttings' exhibition 2008 which toured Cork City and County has been a great success. We ambitiously added two exhibition dates to our annual exhibit in St Fin Barres Cathedral in June. For the first time, this year we took part in Kinsale Arts Week, 12 to 20th July and more recently Bishopstown Library for the month of October.

The show in Bishopstowm Library was well received by all visitors who saw the textiles on display, judging by the great feedback from library staff and many positive comments left by the public in all venues. Several enquiries were made by prospective customers and a number of sales were made during this and previous shows, including work by Barbara Hall, Lana Shuka, Valerie Garvey. During a recent visit to the new Bishopstown library in Wilton by the Mayor of Cork, Councilor Brian Bermingham and the City Librarian, Liam Ronayne, one of the exhibits 'Cut the Apron Strings - Tie the Knot' by Lesley Stothers was purchased by Liam Ronayne for The Cork Ciy Libraries Collection.

All the members of Cork Textiles Network would like to express their thanks for the help and support of library staff during this final exhibition of 'Cuttings'.
