Amanda Hogan was born in the UK and moved to her husband’s home town of Youghal, in Co. Cork, in 2000. She lives with her husband and 2 children and numerous animals in the rural countryside overlooking the Glendine valley.
Amanda is a self developed artist and recently studied Creative Textiles in Cork. She is currently developing her career as a Contemporary Embroiderer. Amanda works in 2D and 3D formats using a combination of hand and machine stitching with a bit of structural crochet as well. She is currently learning traditional Youghal Needle Lace which she aims to work into her art.
As a member of the Cork Textiles Network she has had her work shown extensively in Cork and most recently as part of a group exhibition at the RDS Knitting and Stitching Show.
Amanda uses children and animals as her inspirational start point, often using her own family and pets as base models for a variety of works depicting snapshots of domestic and family life.
Amanda accepts commissions.
